Freezing blueberries

This is what we do, but in all honesty, i don't freeze them on a cookie sheet. I just put them in a plastic container and freeze that way. they are not stuck together, so you just scoop what you need.

But I do flash freeze asparagus, strawberries, diced peppers, etc etc.

Yeah. With the blueberries, since they're so intact, it's not so much about preventing clumping (like strawberries) as it is freezing them as quickly as possible.

I am SO jealous of everyone who has so many BERRIES!

They know it and they're teasing us!!

not to tease you, but when we lived up north, we picked wild blueberries. Now living here, we actually have to pay for our berries. But we love blueberries, so we pay.

How different are wild blueberries from the cultivated ones? We do have blueberry farms here in Texas, but the agriculture is pretty intensive and the berries are huge.

We're still eating the frozen blueberries I picked 3 summers ago. There was a bumper crop and they are still tasty. Good thing there was a bumper crop because the last 2 summers were a bust. No report yet on how the bushes are this year (BIL's farm).

I love wilds - they are tiny first of all, but they pack a lot of flavor for a small berry. I made some of my best ice cream ever with wild blues.

I didn't go picking last weekend but we're in prime raspberry and coming into blues. We have wild raspberry and blackberry bushes which we pick along our driveway, but I also go to PYO places (several options within 15 minutes).

Anyway, farm blues are good too, don't get me wrong, but I'd take wild any day. yum! I GPS marked a spot hiking where I found a ton but haven't been there in a few years, maybe time to check it again...

Yummmyyy!! I look like pulverized hamburger from too many days in the black raspberry thickets

Just got to pick blueberries at my mother-in-law's today, too! I just dump them in a freezer container. I don't even wash them--just pick out the junk that has fallen in--and then freeze them. No juice, so they don't stick.

All other berries, though, I do using the cookie-sheet method. Isn't this a busy, great time of year?!?
