How long does it take an egg to freeze?
Just curious as we are having single digit temps right now.
I have told my family to go out and check for eggs at least once while I am at work.

I came out yesterday AM and 2 of my birds had decided to be early layers and I found 2 frozen eggs...

BUTTTT.. this was in the outdoor coop and I think DH left that egg in there from the day before since only 1 out of 7 girls are laying in there. My other coops/pens are in the garage. That one stays alot warmer-not heated yet though- I collect 2x a day. Dh now knows to collect eggs when he feeds and waters in am before work-I have a small brooder cage in there with little one and he puts the ggs in a carton on that since there's a heating lamping in it-keeps the eggs juuust warm enough not to freeze but does not heat them up either. Then I collect when I get home. I would ask your family again to go out and collect-especially in frigid temps....bribe them???

I dont know how long it takes for an egg to freeze but if the weather stays cold for long periods of time-a warm egg will freeze fast-hours?
