Don't know what thread yall mean, but sounds like you have a good start going.  I'm not talking total self-sustaining.  I still want some amenities!  Just a little more independent is all.

There is a homesteader thread. it is a great place to discuss large scale gardening and what not. I like hearing others ideas, gives me a few of my own.

well know I can eat fresh chicken for a while . have plans for a root cellar / storm shelter soon . Back in the early sixties bomb shelters were a big sale. now storm shelters . I just want a root cellar  for growing and storing my own potatoes . they are so much better grown at home . daughter hides in the closet every time a bad system rolls through. me I'm gonna run  so I'm outside watching the storm . so if chit blows most likely it will get me first . cause I'll be out there looking at it . maybe I'm nuts but I'm out way  more than I'm In .I gotta go T.M.T. O.H.good day all

Here a storm shelter is a necessity, we have have a full basement and a storm shelter that I need to add shelves to, for food storage. DH goes out and watches, I grab the kids and let them watch cartoons in the basement.

True enough...That and preppers are always stockpiling food, that really is quite pointless.

I have to agree on the food stockpiling.... but we have a decent start on the ammo stockpile!

No cellar for me here, the water table is too close. I follow some of the gardening threads, but I haven't seen the homesteading one. Will have to check it out!

Gotta go, DD2 just called and said she got into a car accident. Cops are there, no one hurt. Sucks being this far away!
