French frogs

I'm here, happy belated Kings Day! I don't have a cayuga drake, just ducks. I read that they lay these great eggs, but they're seasonal layers and the color fades as the season goes on. I'm hoping that I can pull off a mix between the cayuga and a more prolific layer, so I have blue Indian runner drakes. The goal being prolific black egg layers.

Huge goal! Im just sort of blown away by the eggs, and i :love the breed. In the intrest of conservation i want a breeding flock, and Rayvn knows that. :Highfive Rav! Mine were a huge disapointment. But the price was right so i dont regret it, theyre helping me learn how to keep ducks :) Your gals must be so much closer to the standard, and i admire them. One day im going to sink some $ into it. Did you buy yours locally?

Thanks :) I'm not sure what kind of franken-ducks I'll end up with that should be interesting. I really hope it works and I can stick to the project. Reading what the for real, give em props, breeders go through to get a standard that breeds true for several generations....

Your right its difficult, i hope theyre as pretty as they sound like theyll be!

Well Thank you. Girls are alot harder to raise than boys and when they are attractive it is a million times worse. My husband did get the shot gun out once and scared the chit out of the boy. My son is the total opposite of the girls, he was the youngest student in the uk to get a phd. Career came first and girls 2nd. Girls are hard work and still are even after they have left home. Drama queens the pair of them. For example, daughter 1, texts me today, I am going to kill my husband. Marriage sucks. Daughter number 2, just found out boyfriend is cheating, coming home in May. And I was having a lovely time with my birds. Ugh!

:hugs

My mother and i dont speak, i wish we had the relationships yall have built!

I'm pretty sure I ordered them from efowl.com. They are running 6.99 - 7.09 per duckling and they'll come from either Metzer or Cackle. I'm not sure which one mine came from. I've heard of some folks having their Cayugas keep black plumage without whitening for up to 5 years. I'm excited to see how long my gals go for.
