French frogs

Story time  . I have been the New Orleans for the parades a couple of times . oldest brother lived there . he was a diver worked on the oil rigs in the Gulf . came home with bags of beads . any way there is one parade they call ZULU know It Turk ?  a lot of the floats are Semi trucks decorated . we went to the parade . My brother told me how they decorated  coconuts but no one every got one they only threw a few to the crowd .if you have never been it is packed with people you can hardly move drinking on the streets as long as it  is not in a glass bottle . Plastic or paper . what a party . Fights break out all around you over bead and booze . any now back to the story .As the semi's come down the street in the ZULU Parade they hang the decorated coconuts out over the side of the float which is like I said . a Flatbed Semi trailer with side boards on maybe 10 or 12 ft high . they tease the crowd with them . everybody wants one and no body gets one . well they didn't think about me . I watched and waited and learned . told my brothers I was going to get one of them coconuts . one brother was beside me the other was at the back of the crowd watching the parade . the kid on the float reached down with the bag and I hit it just right got it with one hand and held on an so did he . thought he was coming over the side . good thing the bag tore I wasn't letting go neither was he .as the float pulled away he held up the top half of the bag I had the rest every body going oh chit did you see that slapping me on the back . it was a blast . SIL had to tell my brother it was me . you know I really have had a great life with loads of fun .

Deffinitly kno Zulu, and i know what your atalking about with the teasing. Theyve gotten alot better though, thru the years, the throws are becoming cheaper so the audience is catching more. They had a special program about the painter of the Zulu coconuts, she only made 200 for some of those first years, but now she does it Year Round! She makes Thousands! Its sort of taking some of the fun of the difficulcy out But it makes ot more fun for the average folk too. The last time i went i these are the best i scord (without flashing, mind you!)

Don't do those :smack

Uh oh, Amy's in the Frog :lau
You may want to skip the first 100 pages or so. Then maybe a good chunk of the middle. Possibly most of the rest of it as well.
Actually, I changed direction and said a few nice things yesterday, so you showed up at just the right time :thumbsup
Wrong place for that :smack
You are the undisputed Queenie over there, but you ain't a frawg yet :smack
Frawgs can swim through the sludge and not get it stuck all over them. You haven't proven you can do that yet. Although, you have proven that you can hold your breath under water for a really long time :gig

Stop burning my data :smack

My thoughts on $10 straight run. Think about how much you spend on brooders, coops, feed, fencing, treats, etc...
Chicks are cheap. Start with the best you can. It took me 6 years to figure that out
Better today ;)

Being as how i know you, i can ferret out the meaning behind this statement. U say go for it, high price =better quality? I would buy his ducklings But ive seen them barebacked at swaps, apparently housed overcrowded. I dont really want to support him At All but i know he has a sizeable Cayuga flock. Im concerned hes running more like a hatchery, and that hes not culling poor stock, almost just want to call him a wanna be, but i dont have enough info to do that, Yet. Maybe this wkend ill make the swap just to bug him :plbb

Well, yes and no. I wouldn't pay the higher price for questionable birds, but it's worth having better birds shipped. I paid $8 each for Tate's flock, straight run, After shipping and all, I ended up paying $15 each for 15 BCM from a highly recommended breeder. I spent $175, and that's about what I spend in a month in feed, so I tell people that are wanting a quality flock to spend the money on shipping chicks. I won't even gamble with eggs at that point. Sometimes eggs are half as expensive as the chicks, there's no guarantee on hatch rate, and they will be straight run anyway

Broccoli (Three different types, romanesco, calabrese, and early purple) Collards (Morris heading and Georgia southern) Brussels sprouts (Catskill and long island improved) and cauliflower. I started some swiss chard back in november, also potatoes :p

I wish I could plant those, I think I am too far south. I may try in the fall.

Gotta get up earlier in the mornin' Phil!

I found 2 this morning (I only have one girl), one was frozen, it was from yesterday, I just never saw it because of the stupid snow!

We got into the upper 20s last night. I'm collecting the cuckoo eggs for the next set. I'm hoping it was warm enough in the coop to keep the eggs from freezing

I've only had a couple freeze this year. But in fairness these ducks are too young to lay so I wasn't looking for one. And the egg is tiny smaller than a small chicken egg.
My older hen laid a big very white egg the other day. Usually her eggs are tan. But she's been eating new feed with oyster shell in it. I was giving her by choice oyster but she wasn't taking it at all. So I changed to new feed. Figure that's why the egg was white.

Well, being as how i dont know that they even come from a line worth breeding, and/or if theyre managed properly, theyre def questionable. Its not a shipping gamble with the eggs, cuz hes only half an hour from me, as long as he follows protocol for collecting hatching eggs we could be cool. Im not sure how it will progress but im near about convinced to get in touch with him. I mean it could be super easy, just ask him what traits he culls for, and if he washes his eggs. on my way outside, ill b bak later! :frow
