French frogs

I can do this all day long dad!

My other passion.

You know what I would do...

Although I did not help any with zipping, the two that I saw problems with I felt responsible. Like I had done something wrong with it during incubation. It's difficult not to want to help them.

That's the only time I will assist, is if it's some physical act I did to cause a problem, like an egg getting stuck inside a broken egg, or a chick that was starting to zip that I didn't see when I opened the incubator to get the dry chicks out. I've just had to cull too many fluffy ones to risk helping out a chick that was doomed to fail. That's the very worst part of hatching, so I don't give myself any more chances of that than nature intended. I've thrown out cheeping eggs at day 24...

Harsh but understand.

I could totally see myself wanting to help even more, if I was doing specific breed eggs for a specific purpose. Or high dollar eggs/high dollar chickens.

I thought I would be that way with what Ravyn calls "my precious AMs", but I've had to cull two of them that hatched with issues. I'm finding I only want the strong ones even more so with these. I'm sure it would be different if I were hatching once or twice a year, or just hatching for my own back yard, but with all the chickens I have now and two incubators running non-stop, I want them to hit the ground running
