So, what do you want them for? Pets, eggs or meat? Any or all? Bug and slug patrol? Pretty yard ornaments?

If you be more specific on why and what you want, I bet we could narrow it down for you...

I would love to just say get some Calls, but they might not be the best choice for what you want...
Clupping wings is easy and simple once you do the first... it's only when you got a lot to do that is hard... but the guilt trip is the worst... :/

Order of priority:
(1) poultry garden will be my man cave. Place to sit with a cup of coffee and just watch birds feed and interact. Wife enjoys it, too and she brings her daycare kids out there all the time. So I guess all my birds are pets.
(2) we like pretty birds and hatching and raising young towards SOP. Maybe show locally in the future.
(3) we eat our eggs but there's only three of us left at home now. I'll eat anybody else's chickens but mine.

Actually, Calls might just be a good fit for you then... other ducks as well though... you will need an enclosed and netted pen for keeping them safe at night or when you aren't home, but they imprint on people the best and if raised around the children com8ng around a lot, they would be good for them too... Calls aren't very big, so eating them just isn't practical... and they're not prolific egg layers either... the more SQ they are, the less they tend to lay, lol... but they make super great pets... great for keeping the slugs and bugs down, not as destructive as bigger ducks in a garden/yard, and the girls are great alarms...

HoW much water do ducks need? My chickens have coops and runs (all covered). They free range when I'm home. Will the same work for ducks? Oh, do chickens and ducks get along?

All this talk about ducks...I had a pair when I was a kid, and they were fun. I'd like to get some more eventually, but the time isn't right yet.
