French frogs

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Just wanted to drop by and say hello. Work has been crazy.
Hey Sidewing

Have a happy Turkeyday

SC these Bev Davis BCM are getting big. Soon they will be crowing and I will have to narrow them down to 1 or two cockerels. I will try to get some pics over the holiday so that I can get feedback from you folks.

What do you start culling on SC? Can you cull on type at this point?
You're asking the wrong guy. All of mine are in the freezer :gig
I'd love to see some pictures of where yours are now

Hi SW!

Glad I didn't go fishing. Wind came up and seas got pretty rough. They ended up with about 10 keepers- Mangrove and Yellowtail snapper. They also landed an Amberjack and a Red Grouper but didn't keep them since they were just undersized.

We'll be eating well tonight!
I could slice strips off that yellowtail and have sashimi :drool

I can't believe how fast this thread moves.

I have some of my SLW in the incubator for a staggered hatch. It's day 15 on the first batch and I have some with good development. But I'm not sure which are the SLW because I had two lav (self blue) wyandotte in with them for a while. I will feel much better when I have a handful of these wyandotte and not just the two.

I've got 8 duck eggs in the bator on day 7, adding chicken eggs (LO's, silkies, and mixes) tonight so they will all be due Dec. 15th. Hatching for a local gal. Looks like I'll have extras though. 6 of my 8 duck eggs are developing very nicely. I think one might be a quitter, and one clear.

Keep us updated on your hatch!

Welcome back! Keep on hatching and soon enough you'll have a respectable flock of self blues.
I don't know if the genetics will work out, but I'm shooting for self blues for one project and self blue laced wyandotte for another. I think it will work, but it will take a while. If I just wanted self blue I should use a black wyandotte, but these have such great type that I'm going to give it a shot.

So it would seem you know exactly what to look for!

Seriously though, I bet you have read the whole BCM KFC thread from the beginning.

Really, the BCM I have are hopeless for breeding for SOP. I gave away most cockerels, butchered a few, and I am hanging on to the pullets just to see what the eggs look like. If the eggs aren't right, I'm starting over.
The good news is that I have a few spectacular AMs from the Smith birds
