Danged Easter chicks are plucking the pinfeathers from my juvenile turkeys, so I tossed them in with the grown hens. They are no longer top of the pecking order.

I have 6 new poults in the brooder, and hear a few more in the 'bator. I figure I'll fish them out every four hours or so.

Is anyone else having "subscription" problems today? Mine aren't in order like they usually are, and the newest stuff is not rising to the top of the list.

I thought maybe I did something accidental and put them in alphabetical order, but its not that either. Can't figure out what happened. Only on desktop, app is fine on the phone.

I got word from a neighbor, night before last, that they saw a fox close to my house around 10pm. Yesterday we installed an electric fence around the runs. I un-plugged it this morning, because my little 9-week olds like to go in and out through the fence, into the other part of the yard, they were climbing all over the wire. Anybody know how rough the electric fences are on little chicks? (seriously, I need to know if it will really hurt them) Hope to see poult pics soon! Oh boy, hope she comes back safely. Keep us posted please!

One of the cuckoo patterned pullets from your eggs flew up and landed on my shoulder while I was walking through the grow out pen. She sat on my shoulder and kept looking me in the eye. A little creepy, I do have trust issues when a beak is that close to my face, but she just looked me over then flew off when she was done.

For more than 15 years, my flock has been an income producing flock. I don't typically get up close and personal with the birds. If it's time to cull one, it is culled with no regrets. Old hens are sent off to stew pots, either mine or a Craigslist buyer. But this new flock might just change my ways.

One of the Spitz hens is showing a lot of interest. While she hasn't landed on me, she does follow me around the coop and watch what I do.
