French frogs

Hey Friday! How r you doin girl? That's great to hear...no sour crops....How can I feed chickens wrong! Lol.
I'm OK Miss Am. Just a bit tired and sore - sucks to get older. Went looking at fruit trees today and trying to decise on what to get and what we'll plant where.

Mine get table scraps, butchering scraps (beef and venison) and fruit and veggie scraps. They're confined so I give them as much variety as I can. I've never seen them refuse anything they could bite off.
Mine too. They get out in the weeds every other day or so, and starting to find baby grasshoppers.

Same here... but mine always have access to grass/weeds, too...
Could just be those have issues... were they from same hatch??
My OH tossed some chicken nuggets out today... they were generic and had no taste... chickens ate them like candy... turkeys tasted them and left them, lol...
LOL - My flock will be picking the carcass of a rotisserie chicken tomorrow. Kinda weird, but they love it. The bones will be spotless in no time.

It's a rite of passage. Every spring when the youngsters get out of the brooders onto the ground, and the old girls get out of the coop and back in the dirt. It's annoying when a new strain comes in with the wild birds, but it normally causes no problems. Turkeys are more susceptible to bad side effects than chickens are, sometimes I have to put Corid in their water since I don't use medicated feed.

Corid's fine. It's not a single dose thing. If they are not sick with foamy mustard poop, you can use the lower preventive dose if putting your birds out on the ground. I generally wait until they show symptoms, as I want them to build natural immunity. Corid helps them get through it with less risk.
X 2 on both counts -- I don't do medicated feed (I will add some dirt to the brooder for enrichment and controlled exposure) - I have had a few situations where it reached the point of requiring treatment, but have never had a serious issue/bird loss so far with this approach -- I, too, prefer the natural immunity building whenever possible.

Been sick... still sick... sick of being sick, lol...

My ducks are shoulder ducks... not a problem til this one... it is a glutton... seriously... almost ate itself to death a few days ago...
Oy, that's no fun at all - what kind of sick?

And some things they couldn't, lol - chickens will eat just about anything that doesn't eat them first.

Knock on wood - I've never had a case of sour crop and my chickens eat all sorts of veggie, produce and meat scraps. Sometimes leftover rice. They eat weeds I toss into the run. They love BOSS for scratch.

Of course I haven't had that many birds so I'm sure I'll get a case of sour crop in my flock eventually.
Same here - though through the years I have had a lot of birds - I don't think it's so much about what one feeds as it is the bird's natural predisposition to having an issue - in your case, @Miss Ameraucana it would seem that rather than diet it is the bird and not the diet - similar to a human with certain food sensitivities or prone to certain digestive issues who are not able to consume the same diet as the average individual. You aren't feeding "wrong" - you just have a bird that would seem to require special management.

Chicken is a favorite snack here - there is something amusing and horrifying in watching the flock tear at a carcass once we humans are done with it....or playing tug of war with a chicken leg.

I'm going to stop in and visit my cousin.  We'll be going back up in a couple of weeks for a wedding, too.

It's a nice town to visit.... We need to head down there soon and see the grandkids ....

Good Morning Frogs! Been traveling And training so I've missed s bunch. Hope everyone is doing well.
