French frogs

We'll make him take you ice fishing should be plenty down there....my boys both live in Traverse City I go down there and fish sometimes. They got a good lake for smelt down there. A good meal of fried smelt also hard to beat.

Actually yes. There is a nice one in Manistique....I mostly fish l
Lake Superior though I spend a large chunk of my winter on Munising bay. Whitefish and Splake...and Coho.....used to be great Smelt fishing too but not lately.

I like rock bass some people don't like them...I think they've never tried them myself. There is a lake not far from here where you can quite literally catch a hundred of them a day in the spring. I say yum

I've had smoked smelt... those little fish are tasty! Over here everyone call the salt water rock fish as rock bass.

We'll make it one day, maybe, God willing.
Could be a tough drive in winter...800+ one way...I won't fly
I've made it up there every summer for the last 6-7 yrs...fished most of the larger lakes in southern WI up to Milwaukee. Fished a nice one further north, near Hayward WI last summer.

Definitely not the same rock bass...rock bass here are a pan fish...similar to a bluegill they are basically a small member of the bass family.....you guys got those razor clams your way though....

Two entirely different fish. The freshwater Rock Bass is a hybrid...Largemouth Bass x Sunfish. Colored like the bass, shaped like the bass, big mouth like the bass, but the size of a large Sunfish & not as bony. The Rockfish, or Stripers, are much larger & carry horizontal stripes.
