Lol, this is the first time I've been here in a couple months. I've missed you guys so much but with all tye cold and snow we've had I've been busy with all the chickens. I'm finally getting eggs from the 5 welsummer hens I bought a couple months back. I'm trying to hatch a few of those now, they'll be mixed with Ameraucana though. The hens are in with my Ameraucana roo that a neighbor gave me. I'm getting 2 eggs most days so far. I think some of them are laying while they're out free ranging though.
Gosh, I bet you do have your work cut out for you. Sorry you lost a few, but congrats on surviving and the great hatches. Spring is just around the corner, so hang in there.

We've played the hide and seek game before, too. When we swapped roos, they stopped laying in the woods. Go figure!
Apparently, our hens behave however the roos tell them to. lol right now we have one that encourages them to forage(instead of pace back and forth waiting for food lol) and they're laying in the nesting box, so I'm pretty happy.
Edit: I'm glad I got a chance to drop in and see you guys again. Gotta go back a cake for tomorrow: devil's food from scratch. It's only my second time trying it, so wish me luck. Night!
