Long crower hens like the denizili breed often do crow. Your hen us just the head of the pecking order. If you get a roo, she'll probably shut her beak. Lol

She's a Cochin but not head of the flock. No rooster in this flock either. She's been in the house these past few days...she's the one getting treated for the sour crop!

Maybe it's her way of protesting!! Anyway just kinda...strange!! But she's a Sweetie!

Maybe she's trying to spit out that nasty medicine!

I know I texted you about this last night, but the others will think it's funny.

Mrs. Flock is obsessed with Oz's little splash chick. She's the sweetest chick we've ever had, and Mrs. Flock is spoiling her rotten. I was watching TV last night when she came in and sat down on the opposite couch like nothing was up. After a few seconds, I could hear the trilling. The little splash chick was on her shoulder, nuzzling her neck, then crawling up in her hair. She would crawl back out and stand on Mrs. Flock's shoulder and look around the room, just content as could be. She ended up falling asleep under Mrs. Flock's ear. It was the cutest thing. If these chicks weren't sold to Oz, I don't think they would be sold

The good thing is now she is ready for some chicks we can keep

. I'm setting again Friday or Saturday, and a lot of the eggs are from the splash pen, so hopefully we will get a few more splash hens to put with the black rooster
That's awesome. I wish my wife would take a liking to some of our chicks. She thinks there cute and stinky that's about it.

I had one lone SLW hatch on Monday after a dry spell from the coldest days of the winter where nothing hatched. I had to put it in the brooder with two SLW that are about 4 weeks old. I was trying to keep a good eye on them to make sure the new chick was safe. I went to check on them 15 min later and I can't find it anywhere. Lifting up the waterer, looking around the brooder. Suddenly I hear it chirping. It was under one of the SLW! This SLW has a pale comb and I can tell it's a pullet. That is the first time I have had a chicken take in a chick. I will have to try to get a pic.

That sounds so adorable!
