French frogs

I'm done with Johnny. Honestly, I think my best option is option 3. Put that big blue alpha in with those girls and hope for a black rooster this summer. I can't get a black from Jack, and I need a black rooster in my breeding plan. I'm not bringing in any outside blood yet

I just hate to see you give up on him, if there is any hope for him. I was just thinking concentrating his efforts may at least tell you something, and only lose one hen's production instead of wasting all 4.

But you gotta do what you gotta do!

On a positive note, you don't have to wait for the hens to "clean out" before the new roo takes effect.

Tough one indeed, but since you are serious about improvement, I'd say don't breed him to hens from the same line as you will double the odds of propagating the flaws.

He is heavily breeding one of them, and 2 sets in a row are zero fertility. I give up

So then option 1 is out.

Sorry. Its a shame, since he's so gorgeous. Bright side, he will sell easily?

Its actually much better this morning.  Swelling is down a little, but its a nice pretty purple color today.  :D     Shifting the bike would definitely be out of the question still.

By the way, hubby is feeling a lot better now too.  He got out and about all day yesterday.  Suuuuuurre has been a loooooonnnng 5 weeks!

That's great news! If I were you I'd milk that ankle as much as you can since hubby can tend to you now. ;)

He would if I were dishonest, but I'm not selling a non-producing rooster without full disclosure

I'm not saying to be dishonest at all, but who's to say he won't be better with other hens? Unless you have him tested. Disclose that he didn't produce for you, but anything is possible.

Never mind, I'll give ya 5 bucks for him and throw him in with my LavOrps.

ETA - My line of thinking was if you considered giving him 6 more months, then maybe he has some potential, but if you feel sure he can't do the job, then its all moot.

Seriously, what will you do with him?
