I got plenty of eggs

Don't make offers like that unless you mean it.

Although, I may be drowning in chicks before too long. At least I hope to be.

That could get really confusing. So, if the recessive white hen is a black, 50% will be white and 50% will look just like the rest of them, but carry that gene. At least then there are still only 3 possibilities...

If that is a white roo, you'd have to separate for single pair matings to find out which hen is carrying it... or put him over all the hens and you would get 50/50 out of her and the rest would be carriers... with a full white parent, all the offspring would get at least one of the white genes...

So my wife has been stressing about how many chickens we have, (and we only have about 30.) Due to zoning laws, we are allowed up to 50 on our lot. But she was worried about how many chickens we had and what we'd do with all the eggs.

We've sold some, and although it is nice to cover the cost of feed, it is a bit of a pain to put up with people until you build up a regular clientele base. Anyways, I ended up contacting the local food pantry and it turns out they are very happy to have any excess eggs over what I can sell. So now I've got the green light to get more chickens!

I been meaning to ask u about a vit supplement I got from TS, made by durvet. It dosed at 22.5 mg of niacin per 1 gal o water once mixed. I feel like that's less than the recommended amount o niacin(?), but it also had vits a, d, e, and b12, plus a lack o iron, which was the selling point becuz I know u've told us the chicks shouldn't have iron, and I wanted to use it for hatchlings. Nobody's havin leg issues ducks and chicks alike (or wing or anything for that matter) and they're at 10 weeks and 1 week now. Cost 10$ to treat 20 gallons, which is probably too high but I started tripin decided I HAD to do sumthin before they grew into issues, an I can't find the brewers yeast anywhere.

Also; my dad and grandfather have decided to start supporting my ambitions in poultry. They like how happy the birds have made me and they've come to understand that I would not psychologically be recovered to the degree I am without them. They see the improvement and they want to help me help myself... My grandfather wants to pay to have sand trucked in for the property, and my dad is pulling down 500 ft or so of a 4 ft chain link fence that belonged to a friend, so that he can bring it to me!!! Hubby also sees my plans falling into place? Told me to go ahead an order the brand new 60$ 44th edition of the APA SOP!!

So Awesome! Good for you!

That's a good outlet... awesome idea! :)

So let's talk turning.

My "turner" in my incubator holds the eggs at a 45 (ish) degree angle. Every 2 hours, it rocks the eggs back and forth 3-4 times in about 1 minute, and then stops in the same position as it was sitting previously. This isn't adequate turning, is it?

I've been turning the eggs around 1/4 turn each night to have a different part of the egg tipping forward. Thoughts?
