French frogs

They are 3 weeks, very small. I know, and 18 months is way to long, my plan is to keep one for a rooster and process the rest as needed (even if not fully grown.) I went with JG mostly because they were one of the more recommended breeds for rooster. Also I am very curious about the taste. I figure I will cook them like Grandma taught me, brine, flour, cook for a couple hours low heat, and see what my family thinks.

Just be aware that if you keep the roo to breed with regular sized hens, the hens are at greater risk of injury from a big boy.

'Tis the one veggie flower I told Notepad she could pick--the fruit look way too much like tomatoes, and are poisonous.
LOL

You get potato fruit, which look like tiny green tomatoes but are NOT edible. And if they ripen you get potato seeds. Know why you don't see potato seeds in the store?
I know that. 1 because they're poisonous and 2 if you plant them theres no telling what you get.

Sticky chicks are caused by too much humidity after pip. I've been testing cause and effect all season, and I just built a new humidification system for my coolerbator that lets me easily hit "rain forest". Oops. With unpipped eggs, that high humidity is good for softening the shell and making sure the membrane is tender but once they are open more than just a little, that moisture gets in there and delays yolk absorption and keeps the egg gunk gooey. The albumen stays wet instead of turning into a powdery residue (chick dust). Here is my new starter brooder. Plastic tote lid, Flex Watt, Lux plug in thermostat with the probe taped to the Flex Watt, old rag washcloth and a dollar store mini laundry basket. I have the happiest poults ever.
Cool ! They look happy, too!

Whose ducks broody? Debs or mine?

And what Walnut said... Ancona in ducks is a breed, plus it is a pattern as well... kind of like a paint horse...

They're a dual purpose duck, good for eggs or meat... and endangered... I have a friend that breeds gorgeous tricolor Anconas...
No!!!! Really???? :ep :th

:gig
I'll have to look if I can find her post... she has prettier, lol...

I know you're girls are broody. :) They do tag team hatching!
