French frogs

Yet another good set of points... 'Tis only 10-15 minutes away, but it could get wearisome, especially during set up. And realistically, this is me we're talking about--the likelihood that I'd work up the gumption to actually initiate an arrangement like this, where it sounds like it's mostly to my benefit? Not very large, anyway.

I read all of it, just not gonna quote your bigger paragraph, lol...

Really, if Mr. P is serious about selling and moving, then your best bet is to wait it out... that way you can plan everything exactly how you want it, decide what breeds or mix you want, and do it all right the first time...

On the other hand, maybe she would like to have a few chickens running around... not a big flock, but a few and a roo... something that could be set up for her to easily handle on her own for herself... you could work together and share it equally while you are there, and leave it small and simple for her when you go... just an idea...

But here's my advice... buck up and find the courage to see if she is someone you could be friends with... since you say another lady already helps her take care of her cow, sounds like she doesn't have many close to her nearby... so she might could use another friend as well... go offer her some farm fresh eggs, I'm betting that might even be a treat for her, but her reaction will tell you a lot... go from there and let what happens, happen... or not...

Wow... Slow night again..... Is it Me?

It's okay I can take it..... Tell me the truth.

Seriously guys I do shower.... Dont stay away....:hu

I don't know how the weather is for you all but here its miserable . Hit 90 today with 65% humidity . rains just enough to raise the humidity . Garden was wet this morning and dry by noon . :/  Ben went in the pool yesterday and today . I guess its good we live back here cause he's always butt naked and don't care who sees him .:lau . put his cloths on and he takes them right back off constant battle keeping him dressed . If I sexed my chicks right I have 109 pullets and 39 roosters . Now to figure out how to box them for the sale this weekend .

Today was miserable... and then some... good numbers on the chicks... gonna see if I can get to the sale this weekend... :hu

Nope never have had goats. What I know about them is they are near impossible to keep contained. "If you want to keep a goat penned, make a cage that will hold water". Everyone I know who has had goats end up with one on top of their car. I know at least one who had the goat on the roof of their house.

Had goats when I was a kid... neighbor down the road owned a strip next to us he pastured his cows on... dang things kept breaking down the fence and coming over to our side... he was not appreciative of us rounding them up and letting him know... he loved to come over and try to blame us for his old falling apart fence not staying up... last time he did that it was in his brand new Mustang... halfway through his tirade he realized we weren't looking at him anymore... turned around and our young nanny goat (feisty girl) was dancing from the hood to the roof and back... he left rather abruptly and never came back, lol...

84 degrees today, lots of big, puffy clouds going across a bright blue sky.  Humidity around 20%.  Nice breeze, not too windy.

I cut all my comfrey down and put it in the garden since I'm working on building a lasagna garden and need a ton of organic material.  Hopefully I can get two more comfrey cuttings this year. May have to buy some alfalfa and peat moss to put in the layers.

Probably should have started with the smaller side of the garden, first. :gig

Rub it in, why dontcha? :plbb

Woulda love a nice breeze today...

Very interesting! I've seen some huge boers but I really don't think these boys are bred to be that large.

You're gonna do awesome, I just know it... you is Turk...
:highfive: :thumbsup

....Yes you stink...been meaning to tell you :D
I need to cut my poor shepards hair too. Need to make that appointment, just one more thing :/ They do look like completely different digs without all that hair. Lol My girl looks so different most people thought I got a new dog.

Yup neighbors grand kids asked who's day it was....:gig

I've read, 'if your short on trouble, get a goat.' I'm aware of those issues and this has been a long time coming, not an impuse buy I promise :)

Goats? Trouble? Nah....

:frow

I forgot to comment on that :hide

I've thought A Lot about keeping poultry away from home, and how lots of people keep their farm away from home. I think the constant trips to and from will wear you down more than you realize as your trying to accomate everything, at least at first. I think for me it would entirely depend on my relationship with that person and maybe before you made that sort of commitment you could at least get to know these ladies a little better?

My friend keeps her harm twenty minutes away.... But up here in the winter... That seams not worth it.... Plowing a while different driveway twenty minutes up the road..... Hard enough to keep one driveway plowed..... Especially after a three foot snow....:th

Oh no! These aren't like that, you know diff lines can be Very different? This dairy farmer has had her line for around 35 years! I was reading on the American goat federation that they're to be a Smaller breed of the medium category standing 28-30" at the shoulder. Your friends line sounds like it's been crossed with boers to make a more suitable meat goat.

I kind of want Nigerian dwarf goats.
