French frogs

It was snowing here during breakfast. It's supposed to frost again tonight with highs in the 40s today. We were supposed to be up north camping this weekend, glad it got rescheduled. I have all the tropicals outside, they are pulled up against the house.

Some photos from this morning.

I think these three are the Sulmtaler gang...but I could be wrong. They are crested. I think the two slow feathering are males, and the golden one female.

The Blue Spitzhaubens. The one I think is a boy is definitely black.

DH loves the cuckoo birds. This one sports a crest and is a soft dove gray color.

This one is black and white and quick. There are a few more like this.

Some of the lavs. More than one breed is represented. This is a very pretty little one but probably a boy. I love the stinkface on the EE on the right, and the photobombing Spitz on the left.

It doesn't show well, but this one is blue laced on lav.

This little girl is so cute!

Olive shanks and puffy cheeks says EE. Again, photobombing Spitz.

Very light color, nicely put together.

Another pretty little girl.

Spitz...likely a roo and if so he's a keeper.

Here is a blue-red barred Cornish cross. My phone did not capture lifelike colors with the red heat lamp right next to her.

Some photos from this morning.

I like the gold/reddish looking one and the one next to her (below the black one).

I like the crested one lower left corner & the one to the left of the girl giving the stink eye.

I like the one almost centered & under the light.

Thanks, Deb. Those are some of my favorites, too. I have a total of 13 Silver Spitzhauben and 2 Blue Spitzhauben (from the breeder's test pen). They are very cute and active little birds, very vocal, very inquisitive.

I have a whole bunch of breeds and crosses that I haven't had in my flock before, so it's fun watching them grow out to see what they look like grown up. Whenever I find a bird that is just as pretty as a juvie as when a chick, and grows into a nicely shaped and feathered adult, that one is a keeper! All those birds are the same age (the Spitzes are a week older) and some have the gawky half feathered teenage look, and others look just like miniature adults.

Once I sort the meatie boys out, it will be easier to see who is who.

Yeah, I love the one in your avatar, too. That has to be a big part of the fun...watching them develop & grow up into beautiful adults.

You can get the incubator brand new with forced air for $75, so you are essentially getting the turner for $10.

You can get the same combo brand new from Incubator Warehouse for $125 with thermometer/hygrometer.
