Hi everyone! I have a BEAUTIFUL pair of French Wheaten Marans for sale. They're about 5 weeks old and are from eggs directly from Gypsy Hen, a show breeder-- they should be absolutely gorgeous adults, especially the rooster (I'd keep him in a minute if we were allowed roosters). Asking $40 for the pair, and gender is guaranteed. Picture below of when they were about 4 weeks-- the roo is the dark one, the hen is the sweet little light one.

I've also got five croad langshan eggs in the incubator that are due to hatch in the next few days. I'd hoped to keep one, but since I fell in love with too many Marans chicks from the other hatch I can't keep these babies. Asking $4 per.

I'm in the Atlanta area but am willing to drive a bit or meet you somewhere!

These guys have all been sold, save one Croad Langshan baby who has spraddle leg-- he's all hobbled up but I'm not sure it's working. :( He (or she) is a little splash chick, should he pull through!

That's fantastic that you found homes for them all except that baby. The chick sounds very cute!

Why do you think it's not working?

I'm not quite sure. It appears to be a problem with the tendon perhaps being too short? She doesn't seem able to place that foot flat, even once I've hobbled her leg into place. I may try flexing it a few times a day over the next few days to see.

Is the leg facing more to the outside? The tendon can slip off the slight groove where it sits across the joint. It tends to slip to the outside of the joint and it pulls the foot at an angle. Does this sound like what may be happening? :)

Here's a video that shows a tendon that's slipped. Sometimes the tendon can be slipped back and held in place. I have a young guinea with a slipped tendon. I was no able to fix it by the time I realized what had happened.

I've had that before with chicks, and I don't think that's what it is this time...but I'll check again to be sure. This one had a difficult hatch (I wound up having to assist a little) so I think things are just a little wonky. Hoping she pulls through! Cute little splash baby. ❤️

That would be great if it's not a slipped tendon. Sometimes it takes a bit for them to get straightened out, you're right about that. Sometimes when they've can also have hip issues which also can mess with their stance. It's nice when it takes just a day or two to get the feet/legs fixed up. I hope she pulls through! :)
