I scoop the poop boards every morning and have tons of ventilation. We get to 108 most days and havent had a smell yet.
I used to live in Corpus. Humidity makes the heat worse. I free range so they always head under our big tree. I also freeze a tub of water every night and put it out there as it starts to get hot. They will stand in it or drink it. And I dont do anything special to keep them hydrated. They love the ice water. If it seems like they're struggling I will put some electrolytes in the water. They also have deep shade under their coop.I'm just at the hinges of hell ya'll in Midland are pushing the gate down. I have installed forced air(fans) pulling the air in through the vents and seems to doing a good job so far. We have read somewhere that the little car freshener/Christmas tree looking things(vanilla)work well and thus far are doing a decent job. I know its going to get even warmer here in the Corpus Christi area and wanted to be ready. How do you keep your flock cool and hydrated?
I can’t get my chickens to stand in tubs of water! I will pick them up and place them in it and they act scared and run off! LolI used to live in Corpus. Humidity makes the heat worse.
