Quick question. Any clues as to why some of my fresh eggs look hard boiled? I cracked open a fresh egg today and the whites were solid, as if I’d hard boiled it. They were slightly runny though. It’s getting hot here but over 150F? No way.

I am just hypothesizing here but is it possible for an egg to stay inside a hen so long it partially cooks?? I tried to google this and came up with nothing so I'm just guessing.

Any way the egg was left close to something hot for an extended period of time?? For example, I softened a whole onion that was laying too close to my grill once.

This is very interesting...

Is the nest box getting direct sun and/or has a metal roof on it? I'd put a thermometer in there just to make sure it wasn't becoming an oven. When I built my coop I noticed the metal roof got scaldingly hot, so when I built the nest box I made sure to put plywood underneath the metal, and the nest box is on the shady side of the coop.
