FRESH WATER CLAM SHELLS AND....

fresh water snail shells. I was wondering if anyone on here has ground this stuff up for the chickies? I can get bags and bags free in Lake Michigan or Lake Superior. I would crush them, and sterilize them if you think I need to also. This would be a great way to save money.

I smash up oyser shells, but here in Florida I can get mountains of oyster shells. I think you could use pretty much any kind of shells as they are made up essentially the same thing, shells are mostly calcium carbonate. I don't sterilize them.
