Friday, May 2nd is don't buy gas day!

Yeah, this idea will not work. Check out the link someone posted above.

A better idea is to avoid buying gas from bigger name companies who import their oil from problem areas in the middle east. I always try to get gas from local no name companies rather then Shell or Exxon, etc.

They buy their supply from "Shell or Exxon, etc." so that doesn't help either.

I liked eggzettera statement regarding plastic. It the best option presented so far.

Honestly, If everyone fills up today and doesn't buy tomorrow what good are u doing? You are just giving the gas companies ur money a day earlier.

Sorry I drive about 60 miles a day on I35 (nightmare) in Texas, I'd be a road bump to someone driving a truck.

The best idea is to boycott all goods shipped into this country from China.
If they don't get our bucks, then they can't afford cars, and if they don't have cars they won't need gas.
At the same time it encourages manufacturing to restart in OUR country giving us back jobs and income.

Maybe it's different in other places, but that's not necessarily true where I live. I forget the list of gas stations and where they purchase their oil, but if I can find it, I will be sure to post it.

Unfortunately, this gas problem will not be solved over night. We will end up having to wait for the equilibrium and that could take one year, or it could take several. Eventually everything will balance out. The best we can do is purchase the cheapest gas in our areas and conserve other ways, or to carpool. There are plenty of ways to save gas and I used to hesitate saying that because I live in the middle of nowhere. However, even I have found ways to save.
