MY RIR is BAD!!!! He follows closely and as soon as you cannot see him out of the corner of your eye he is stomping and dancing at your back. Turn around to look at him and he stands there like he is innocent. He has attacked me, my husband, my daughter and children that come to visit. I have kicked the snot out of him and he does not mess with me too much anymore. DH says "Big Red attacks anyone again and I'm going to cure him of his aggression with a .30 cent bullet."
I see it as part of having animals and he hasn't hurt anyone so I just go with it. I have never been really hurt by a rooster and refuse to let him intimidate me. I watch him and do not turn my back. Big Red might bite the bullet one of these days because he is ornery. I guess I do not know if he is just being protevtive of the flock or if he is just being a jerk.
My BR roo and Australorp roo are very mellow, which could be because they are not the Alpha male. I have often wondered about getting a Buff Orp roo. My Buff girls are SO docile and come and sit on my lap. Besides my banties, my Buffs are by far my favorite "pet" chicken.
