It really just goes by the roo itself. I have 2 barred roosters that are just over 2 weeks old now & I handle them multi times a day & give them lap time Etc to try and promote a friendly well tempered bird so that I can keep both instead of having to choose if they start to get nasty. I also have 4 Japanese Bantam roosters, I will be keeping at least 2 they are super quite (14wks old as of yest) they have not tried crowing at all and don't even really make much noise at all. In my area having roosters isn't an issue at all, but I still want gentlemen like roosters with commonsense on when it's okay to start crowing
I hope you find the right one for you, if you aren't against it or already do it, just get a few different breeds of roos and the ones that don't work out can become dinner when big enough.
