Friendly Rooster Breeds?

I agree, breeders will cull aggressive birds. My Buckeyes tend to be very gentle. If you choose a large, dual purpose breed, they will be nicer. (Except for certain strains.) Breeders don’t tolerate aggression in the larger birds.

I love my buckeyes and they came from breeders but had one rooster very aggressive....was the sweetest cockerel till he turned a year old then he changed.....no guarantee on roosters from either really. Just a better chance if you buy from a breeder who breeds for calm temperament....still no guarantee.

Although your current rooster is not aggressive introducing another rooster into your flock maybe a challenge. Adding a smaller rooster would be tough on it due to size and maturity. Do you free range your chickens? If so a faverolle rooster would not be a good fit as they are easy prey for hawks.

Why do you say that?
Faverolles roosters are huge, hawks really don't want any.
