Anyone have pics, vids experience with breeds of roosters that have seemed and are known for being very calm?
Thanks cant wait for feedback!

If you are thinking calm lap pets, maybe roosters aren't the best way to go.
I know people who have kept silkie roosters that were very friendly. I've raised hundreds of roosters with almost no problems, but they aren't my pets, they are my livestock. So I don't interact with them other than to feed and water. The breed I now raise are very aloof and don't really want human contact.
Lots of more serious issues come into play if you want to play with them.
My roosters know and do their innate job of protecting the flock. If you want to handle your birds during the day, the roosters may have an issue with that.

Each rooster is an individual. Best bet for getting rooster with attitude you are looking for is to get one that is already a year old. Their true personality is more evident, and their behavior isn’t as directed by immature raging hormones.

Why do you need pics or vids?

what are your goals for a rooster? Fertile eggs? Protection?

My Gerard (Buff Orpington) will come sit on my lap from time to time (did it more before the hormones kicked in, but he’ll still jump on my back and settle on my shoulder for a rest. Sometimes I’ll just pick him up and put him on my lap and hold him/pet him till he settles down. All depends on his mood).

Gerard isn’t as cuddly as some of my girls, but some of my girls are less ‘friendly’ than him, so it all depends on the bird. I think it also depends on how much you hold and handle him. I’ve always been very hands-on with my roos, so I’ve never had a real problem with aggression. Good luck!

No not for pets. Just wondering about people's experience with different breeds.

Just amazed by the growth of chickens. And how they develope over time. Aso fond of studying their behavior and looking at there beautiful feathers.

Agreed roosters a few years old have way less raging hormones. The first one I had was around 5. And was quite gentle.

Why need a calm one when you can play tag with them. Mine use to hate my feet so much, he can run around the house for a few laps chasing my legs. That was fun since i was a kid. But i was too busy righ now, i cut my flock till only a few left. Still wonder how everyone manage ther time with a lot of pet.

Oh! I forgot to include an image of Gerard hanging out with me!

Rooster as shown immature / juvenile. He will provide same service even when several years old. Breed is can be important but how you treat roosters is just as important when in comes to temperament of roosters and hens.

I have about half dozen roosters like him. A good many more of same breeding that are not handled as intensely but could be worked with to get them to same level rather quickly. I do keep some as outright pets.
