Forgot about the time difference. I'm getting the kids settled for bed out here on the east coast.

I have 15 minutes to go and I'm not getting ANYTHING done.

Ooooooooo... do you have a spare one of those floating around? I'd love one please. (And how does he keep the ferrets in a pouch? Mine have always been little escape artists.)

I checked your blog, CityGirl - those Silkies are looking so beautiful! I love the baby pictures - you had a great hatch! My St. Patty's day hatch went very well, but I decided to sell most of them.

Thanks, Belle! The silkie boys have started trying to crow. It's the funniest thing ever! Hopefully that means their manliness is coming upon them and they'll start noticing the girls. One of them has been practicing the wing drop. He hasn't figured out the rest of the hokey pokey rooster dance, but he's trying! Maybe we'll get babies by the end of summer.

I'm selling most of this hatch as well. All of the boys will need to go. I got extra Barred Rocks so I'd have pullets to pair the boys up with. Hopefully I guessed right on the BRs! I'll keep 3-4 BR pullets, the splash ameraucana if it's a girl and 3-4 of the EE pullets. I've got three more ameraucana eggs in the bator (Elvis the silkie mutt gave up on her hatch when I tried to move her to the broody pen. I got tired of the drama and just moved the eggs into the bator. Two are developing nicely so maybe I'll have two more hatch out this week.)
What all did you hatch out this round?

Mutts. I thought the Welsummer roo was the dominant roo in that pen, so I thought I'd end up with black sex-links from the BR, red sex-links from the Delaware and pure Welsummer + olive eggers from the EEs in the pen. I got:

By the sheer number of black and blue chicks in the pen, I've concluded the Split Black Rock roo has been sneaking a lot of loving in.

Awwww... they're cute little mutts!

Those in the back look like pure welsummers. Maybe both roos are having their way with the women.

I know when I had two roos in the ameraucana pen, both boys were doing the deed with the girls. Poor girls. They are much happier now that the adolescent is out of there. But I saw both boys mounting the girls, so they were both at least trying. Maybe your welsummer roo is sneaky, but still doing the deed.

They are cutie pie babies though!

The only Welsummer egg that hatched popped out a black chick, so Black Bart struck again.

The chipmunk looking ones mostly came from the green eggs and most of them have puffy cheeks. One of the chipmunk chicks is frizzled, so that one is from my frizzled EE girl - I'm keeping that one. I'm also keeping a reddish buff one (not in the picture) that reminds me so much of the way Claribelle looked as a baby. I have a total of 4 that I want to keep out of this batch. The rest I'm selling. I have them listed on Craigslist.

Nice to see you! I thought you'd be scootering - is it raining or something?

The chicks are up on CL.

Yay! A Claribelle wannabe!

A couple of my EEs started out looking like the chipmunk babies. They have grown into lovely big girls.
Can you seperate Black Bart into a different pen so your wellie roo has a chance? Welsummers are awesome! Lauralou and I are trading some of her wellies for my ameraucanas (and perhaps a stray silkie

). I can't wait. I have two hatchery wellies right now and I just love their eggs. They are so pretty!

We need pics of the keepers for sure.

Boyd- I've been off for a while. How is the house hunting coming along? Did you get that farm?
