Friends Welcome

Yes, I'm going back alone, to a vacant house (no furniture or anything lol).

We've been apart before, so that's not a big deal. Mostly it's just the not knowing if I will find a job or if we will lose our house that we are worried about.

We thought Wyoming was awful when we lived there, but we've found a new appreciation for it after living in San Antonio. DH is trying his best to get sent back to Wyoming now. But, he could get sent anywhere or be kept in San Antonio. We don't know yet, and won't find out for a few more months what's going on with that.

Hi SB! No, I don't have any leads, but you don't have to speak Spanish to get a job in Wyoming

When I left my job they told me they would employ me as long as I needed, but I wonder how much of that is truth and how much is just fluff since I was leaving. I intend to talk to my bosses when I get back up there and see if they will hire me back. If not, there are few temp agencies in town. That's how I got the job that I had before-I was sent there as a temp and they ended up hiring me.

My Spanish is limited to what Dora teaches in Dora the Explorer; so I can count to 10 and know primary colors. Somehow I don't think the San Antonio employers would be impressed with me either.

Here's to hoping there's better employment in Wyoming.

What are you going to do for furniture?

Yeah, but they probably learned from that mistake and won't do it again...

Poor Kel, will your goat caretaker let you have visitation rights? (And YES, I have a cellar...- it's where I keep the bodies.)

I'm taking our camp chairs and lots of blankets

That's pretty much what I had when Scott left. I staying in Wyoming for a while after our house was packed up and dh was gone. It's not so bad. I'm just really really really hoping that I can find a decent job and quickly.

And, of course, I'm hoping the dh will get sent back to Wyoming too. Otherwise we will be apart for a long while.

LOL, the goats are still mine, and yes, I can have visitation rights. The woman that has them lives about fifteen minutes from me and we are good friends. I used to do her milk test, and probably will again when I go back.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the job there Buff. Just what I needed...

I'm not moving there for the sole purpose of getting my old job back. I can count to ten, ask where the bathroom is, and say my name is Kelli in Spanish, and that doesn't cut it here in beautiful friendly San Antonio...

Funny, I can say "My name is Kelli in Spanish too". No wonder you can't get a job there. Jeesh.

So a business cannot be successful in the deep south unless you can communicate with anybody who doesn't speak English?

Perhaps potential employers just keep telling me that so they don't hurt my feelings. Maybe speaking Spanish is not a requirement, but just a way that they can tell me they don't want to hire me without it looking like it's my fault?

But every time I apply for a job, the first question is "Do you speak Spanish?". Which, sadly, I do not. End of interview.
