Here is the short version:

Our landlord has not been paying the mortgage and there was a notice of default and public auction on our fence. Auction is May 25th.

At work, we are contract employees - I work for Transit Ways, contracted to VVTA. The governing body decided that VVTA should have it's own employees and we all have to submit resumes and all positions will be advertised. We get to compete with others for our jobs.

We had that at IBM, a few lower secretaries were replaced, but they didn't work as much as play popcap games all day, so it wasn't a shock. Besides they just asked if you'd want to move to management, so you're not going to be on the chopping block.

I actually DO know that. They are planning on advertising only locally, which means that no one will have the transit experience that we all do. It is just the prospect of the possibility, especially after the foreclosure notice, that has me uncomfortable. I am also aware that the Board would not do away with my boss if at all possible, and he would not do away with any of us ever. And my prospective salary increases by 5k. I just want the unknown to over with. And my office mate, the Assistant General Manager - her position has been done away with. They will find a spot for her, but SHE may wind up with a cut in pay, so I am feeling her pain too because I really do love the woman.
