I have 8 bared rock chicks in my brooder. Finally! I have stripey chickens! The co-op got them in yesterday and I scampered off down there and brought a box full home. I have those 8, 12 more EEs and ameraucanas in the bator dude to hatch out in a week and then Elvis went broody first part of the week. She's only half silkie, but apparently she got the broody half. She's a hateful broody though, mean and pecky and hissy. I got tired of tossing her off the nest and gave her three ameraucana eggs to play with. We'll see what she makes of it.
I am about to be covered up in chicks! YAY!

My test hatch is due on the 17th/18th - I'm dying to see if Welsummer x Barred Rocks = Black Sex-Link I set 46 and as of last night, I have 34 developing nicely. I probably going to sell most of them. I just wanted to see what I ended up with.

Ideal just got back with me. I ordered 23 OEGB's in Golden Duckwing, Buff Laced, Pearl and Chocolate.

AND I want to get a few Brown Leghorns from the feedstore and maybe something from the banty bin.

Whoohoo!!! I can't wait to see pics of everything. Definitely I want pics of the OEGBs. I've never seen pearl and chocolate OEGBs.

My welsummers aren't laying at the moment. Slackers. I really wanted to set some welsummer EEs in this batch so they will start laying before winter. Oh well. Maybe they'll start back up soon. The buff silkie girls have started squatting when I pet them and I noticed one of the roos is trying to figure out the dance. Maybe they'll start laying soon too!!!

I'm staying away from TSC. The co-op only got barred rocks and white leghorns. I'm not a huge white chicken fan, so that was not a temptation. Well... except for the teeny baby that figured out she could fit inside the strip feeder and was happily grazing away down the middle. They had already fished her out a couple of times and she kept going back in. She was pretty darn cute!

G'night all. I'm off to our local community college with my little transcripts in my grubby paws. I have to see how many more credits I need in order to earn an Associates.
Can't they just give me one because I know so much about chickens? (or at least, chicken people...)
