Brutus was stolen? I can't for the life of me remember your rottweilers name. Sorry to hear you're dog-less.

My chessie does a good job protecting everything around here but we have to have frequent "discussions" about who is actually the alpha "ahem" female.

I hadn't heard about your dogs either, Tex. I did wonder how those punks managed to steal your car with your guard dogs on duty, but I didn't want to ask. I'm sorry you lost them.

I looked into getting an Antalion Shepherd as a livestock guardian dog. They're supposed to be VERY protective and effective against all predators (including humans.)

I have a german shepard mix and he only goes after the small chicks if they escape. The rest of them he herds into a corner and brks his fool head off til we come put them back. Adult chickens are completely safe with that dog. He is also a very good watch dog. His bark is totally different when there is something in the yard and a couple weeks ago he probably saved the entire flock as well as major injury to the horses.

Hey everyone.

I'm taking sometime to deal with the news on my leg. Long story short, I'm crippled for life. Getting a second opinion next week, but the surgery could paralize me. The doc would rather have me wait untill a new proceedure is developed instead of damaging my spinal cord. I'm just awful to be around right now.

So... what exactly is wrong?

There was damage at the spine. The nerve connections there no longer work. So I've been feeling pain at the hip, when the worst of the tearing is at the spine. Seems I had arthritus developing and the disks are shot as well.

Saddi I'm just not buying it. And not because I don't believe your Dr feels that is the best course of action, he may very well believe what he's saying.

BUT, I have spent enough time in enough hospitals with people having major medical maladies... the second opinion never ever matches the first.

This is from a car accident, one that was not your fault. Didn't I read you were using an HMO? You need to get a the best Dr you can find. You need to put yourself and your health above and before anything else right now, you have kids who need you and they need to see you on the road to recovery.

Use your phenomenal research skills to find the best and the brightest in spine, nerve and joint health and go to them. Where there's a will there's a way. You are a bright and determined woman and I know you can find someone who can fix this. I've seen people in worse condition get fixed, it's do-able you just gotta find the Dr that's up to the job.

Money's no object, this is your health, that's what lawyers are for.

I'll be climbing off my soapbox now and returning you to your regularly scheduled program.

thanks Michelle for that post!

I turned on tv news, but they are not talking about Big butter Jesus being struck by lightning, but said San Diego had 5.7 EQ overnight.
Did you southern CAers feel it? I didn't.
