Frigid Temps = Lots of Eggs

The colder it is the more eggs I am getting! Yesterday, I got 9 eggs from the bigger girls and 1 egg today so far from my babies I raised, they are 21 weeks while the bigger girls are 27 to 29 weeks!

I hope I get a whole mess of eggs then. Yesterday it was in the mid 40s and today it's only 19 degress out. I got two eggs yesterday, my first in over a month. So maybe today i'll get a whole bunch more.

It is suppose to be -5 deg. here tonight. A far cry from the 40 deg. it was two days ago. Nasty blizzard, the chickens have been on lock down for two days now...we'll see how many eggs i get this weekend. The high for Sat. and Sun. is only suppose to be 14 deg.

Nothing seems to phase my Australorps. From my 4 Australorp girls, I have been getting 3 to 4 eggs a day, no matter the temps. I was under the impression that chickens layed less in the winter, but these girls just keep pumping out the eggs.

My girls have trudged thru snow to get to the nesting boxes while hunkering down in the greenhouse to lay their eggs. Let it snow, cuz they still lay!
