I purchased 3 frizzle Cochin Bantams roughly a month ago. Two of them have gotten a lot of adult feathers (wings, back, body and tail stub) but one of the has only gotten a few wing feathers. The rest of it's body is just baby fluff.

I was wondering if this is normal? Am I missing something? It's eating, drinking and pooping just fine. I'm at a loss...

Could there be a slight age difference?

I may be wrong, because I’m not any kind of chicken expert, but I’d say it’s not something to be too worried about. I have a 5 week old Bantam Cochin (who could’ve been but didn’t turn out to be frizzle) that is still not completely feathered out. He’s just now starting to fill in and it seems like a miracle!! Maybe just wait a week or so and see if there is any significant difference in feather growth?

can you post some photos
The first three pictures are of the chick in question. The last two are of one of the others I bought with it to show the difference in feathering.

it is hard to tell from those photos, but I think you may have a silkied frizzle chick, or possibly a sizzle as I said before. If it is silkied, then the fluffy bits will always be fluffy.

Do you have an update? I have an 11 week old that was supposed to be a Cochin frizzle, but I’m thinking he is a frazzle. He only ways 1.09 lbs. I got him from a hatchery.

Some chicks are slower to feather, some fail to thrive. I would increase his protein and supplement with vitamins.
