FRIZZLE dizzle DIZZY! what breed?? & breeding questions! iknowiknow...

I guess that was my point. . . He's a Silkie, just really poor quality. Not meaning to offend, just saying that his feathers are almost "normal"

thanks everyone!!

i got this pair and a few other LF cochins for a really good deal bc the lady was moving back to the mainland. like i said i have never had a silkie before so i was not exactly sure what a real silkie looks like.. lol* no offense taken

when i got them i wasnt going to take the little black roo, but he was lil' mamas buddy bc they were the smallest 2 birds she had - so i could not split them up! he's really cute anyhow, silkie or not!

i love the frizzle too!!

she is my new favorite! i think we will try to have some babies from them just for fun!! but not for a few months, i already have 14 1wk old chicks right now!! 8 outside with the mamma Ginger and 6 in my bedroom! in the brooder. i want to find her a cochin bantam roo eventually, too. but i will probably have to order one from a hatchery... we'll see

thanks again for all the nice comments! if and when i get some babies ill let yall know!

edited to add: the "silkie" was a rescue chicken also, like the frizzle - she said she found him in really poor shape with hardly any feathers at all - it breaks my heart that some people will just dump birds/any animals off in the woods, at the dump or whatever - (i think whoever dumped them thought they were messed up or something bc of the frizzle feathers?? and maybe the same with the "silkie", bc he has both kind of feathers??) people dump animals here sometimes, bc of the nice climate, they can survive in the wild, but what a terrible thing to do to an animal, especially the little bantams. we have lots of feral game/jungle fowl (and feral cats by the hundreds!) running wild and they do pretty well. im glad she found them both and saved them and now i get to enjoy them - even if they are not perfect!

No, not all frizzled birds are cochins. The frizzle gene is present in a lot of breeds of chickens. Cochin, Polish, Serama to name a few.
