I got this strange looking creature from a local farmer when I was replacing a four day old chick that died. I intended to replace the lost chick with an EE and a silkie, which I did, and then the nice farmer gave me Hester (or perhaps Herman) for free. She is at least 14 weeks old, maybe 16, not exactly sure. I got her 14 weeks ago and it was thought that she was 2 weeks old or so then. I thought she was a frizzle, but she may be a frazzle. It took a long time for her feathers to come in, and even now I can find some bare spots under all that fraz (she has not had feathers plucked by the other hens). She's shy and hates to be picked up, but I do hope she's a she, because she's best buddies with the silkie, Fancy Nancy. I'm curious about the gender of my silkie as well, but I can handle that in a separate thread. So what kind of mix/breed is she? She's tiny, has blueish/greenish legs and feet and grey skin, and she makes different sounds than my other hens, not like my EE or my White Rocks. She sounds more like a wild bird that I'd hear out my window. Heerrrrreee's Hester!
