Frizzle question..

And soft! I forgot to mention how soft the feathers are to pet. I love petting Elvis and Lucy. The black Frizzle is too squirrely to pet. She doesn't like it but the other 2 eat it up.

I ordered some frizzle eggs. So excited!!! So I should get 4 types of birds that hatch: male smooth, male frizzled, female smooth, and female frizzled. Right?

Can I breed the smooths to the frizzled, or do I need to get other birds altogether? Can't wait to start experimenting!

you can breed the smooth to the frizzle or you can get a totally different normal feathered birds.... frizzle is a dominant gene, a mating of frizzle to smooth will produce 50-50...

the curl is best expressed ona wide medium length feathers.

Just for you ladies-- here is a picture of Dozer's chick.

It is the cross of Dozer (a sizzle) with Patch (my Aloha Roo)

No real waddles to speak of, but that gynourmous cushion comb makes me think its a feller. What do you think?

To the OP- This is the ONLY chick I have tried to hatch from Dozer, and it got the frizzle gene. SO-- you could mix just about anything with a frizzled XXX and get something funny-looking

ETA: I wish this little guy had gotten Dozer's black skin. But, we'll have to wait until it matures to see how weird it really does look.

dont' knnow whether this was mentioned but if you order friz chicks some chicks will be frizzed and some won't. i ordered 4 chcks and 3 were frizzed annd one wasn't. 2 roo frizzed and 2 hens one frizzed and one not.

I told them "no rush" though.. I need to enjoy my silkie babies first. I got four this time... And, I am so done buying chicks now!! I even talked my SIL to a few of them.. who may be just lurking on this forum

Here are my frizzled...I house them seperate with the smooths. They are wonderful! I also have an auction up right now for their eggs.
