Frizzles vs. cold

Do frizzles have the same cold hardiness as the standard of the same breed? I was wondering if my frizzle cochin pullet will handle the same temp as a non frizzle cochin.....

No, they don't. Their foofy feathers do not hold heat as well as a smooth chicken's feathers will.

We have a frizzle cochin bantam, and she has been putting up with CT winters for four years. She has never had a problem. Last winter, I put a chicken saddle on her just for added warmth, and it seemed to work pretty well. She gets a lot of hay to nestle into and a nice bed of shavings underneath that. It may help that she is so small; she can really bury herself in the hay.
