Frizzles WON'T ROOST!? What to do?

Quote:
I actually have tried that, in fact, the first night in the coop I put them on the roost after dark. But they totally had panic attacks and couldn't get off it fast enough!

Nope...my frizzles don't roost either...they do the "hundle" like others have mentioned. I guess they are more like silkies that way...flying is not really their thing!

How about one of those covered cat litter boxes..I've seen people recommend them for nesting?

Even my Silkie sleeps on the roost like a REAL chicken! If I see one of those cat litter tops at a yard sale then I'll pick one up but for now, I made a cut out in a box that looks just like that PLUS I put a curtain on the front of it for additional privacy that they seem to enjoy in the nesting boxes.

This may sound crazy, but here we go. I only have 1 frizzle out of 7 chickens. He's the only one that came get up in things to roost or just even groom and hang out... He's on the ground pecking around looking left out while everyone else is hanging out. When the others are on the ground though, yes def one of the flock as a matter of fact he's second in command... So I'm hoping he isn't feeling left out... What can I do?

My frizzle is a lap chicken. She literally tries to jump up on my lap, but can’t fly so she picks my shins until I pick her up. She sleeps in the nesting box. I know I’m not supposed to do that, but I have a little heat pad under the pine in one of the nesting boxes that she calls her bedroom. It’s just kind of the way it is. In the morning I go around and pick the poops out of there, but she’s super happy and I think she’s more of a kitten than a chicken.
