Frizzles

Well they are Cochin Bantams. They are just Frizzled, so you will need a smooth feathered Cochin Bantam rooster for them and a smooth hen for the rooster. Frizzle isnt a breed, its kinda like a variety of a breed. ANY breed can be frizzled, but the most common are Cochins, Rocks, Japs, and Polish.

well, you get up here and find out just how much you don't know. how do you get those frizzles? is it just the way some chickens do, or were they bred to do that? i need a lot more space to accomodate all the chickens i want!!

I read that frizzles don't show their frizzles until they start to mature. I have a chick from MM that started to show frizzle at 4 days old. It will be 4 weeks old Saturday. There are 3 others that are just now starting to frizzle, they are the same age as the one in question. Frizz, as I call her, is only about half the size of the other 3. She seems very healthy and fiesty. She is extremely frizzled from head to tail. Could this be a case of frizzle to frizzle breeding? What are the problems caused from this breeding. What should I watch for in little Frizz? She is my favorite and I wouldn't want to loose her. Thanks for any information.

I didn't get any replies on this. Are there any frizzle people out there who could answer my questions?
Thanks,
Gayle

I bought a Frizzle from a local feed store that was only a couple of days old and had already started to frizzle. That's why I bought it. He/she is 3 weeks old now and has some crazy feathers. I'm positive it was just an accident it's a Frizzle as it was the only one in the bunch of about 50. And the store doesn't specialize in anything rare.

I don't think just because it started curling out early or a lot that it is from Frizzle to Frizzle breeding.

Here's a pic the day we got him/her:

I'll take another pic of how frizzled the feathers are now.
