Went out to the barn, and saw two ducks playing tug of war with a frog. Ran back to the house to get my camera. Boy these ducks love free ranging on a wooded three acre pond.

Below is a picture of the winner:

I often get "kisses " from my ducks...But no way I would let them near me if they had been eating frogs!! Its kinda gross what they eat sometimes- but hey- think of all the protein and nutrients they get from the gross things!!

That is funny! We have tiny little chorus frogs, no bigger than a big grasshopper, all over our 5 acres and the other day my 2 year old "accidentally" fed one to the chickens. My rooster slurped it right up.

It's amazing the size of critter they will eat! One of my hens ate a big 'ol fat lizard in one gulp once...head to tail!

Good catch!

I love frogs and toads - but there's nothing so excited as a duck with a frog! Best is when the frog is just SLIGHTLY too big to go down the gullet, without some adjusting....and lucky duck has to run madly back and forth, dodging flockmates, trying to get frog arranged properly without DROPPING it. I was astonished to find a bite-sized frog in the night pen a few days ago. I was dumping soiled water and he was hiding behind one of the mixing pans I use for water. I speculated it was some sort of frog bravery test, maybe he was getting initiated into an elite frog gang if he survived. He did!

She's thinking "Yum, tastes like chicken"

Just today I caught one of my mallard hens gulping down a frog by the kiddie pool! Took a bit of maneuvering, but she got it all down.
