From egg to chick!

2x on this. When my pullets were still at a young age, I used to enter their coop from the nesting box lid since the door wasn't big enough and go by their roosting area at night. I always brought my phone with me and I showed them pictures of eggs and told them which color of eggs they are suppose to lay and how often their breed typically lays. Then I would explain to them everything about eggs that I could. I would do this every night and stay in their coop, talking about eggs, until morning. One day, all of them started to lay and I knew my words of wisdom had paid off in the end.

I'm not being serious.

They probably just wanted you to shut up. Lol. Mine would do the same.

Cheeks: "If she mentions laying an egg ONE MORE TIME....."

Celestia: "What. You ain't gonna do a thing. You are all bawk and not bite."

Olivia: "Bless yer hearts. Y'all are just slackers. She gives us tons of yum yum snacks"

Cinnamon: "You are just a suck up Liv! You just wanted your own area so you laid an egg and now you have a big fancy nest"

Luna: "So if I start laying I will get my own area? I will think about it. What about you Cleo?"

Cleopatra: "I will lay when I lay. It takes alot to be fabulous like me. Now fluff off. I have preening to do"



It would go something like that. Yes. I'm not normal. Shhhhhh.

Huh. But he doesn't allow Snape to mount them? Interesting. The wing shuffle is a herding move, at least that's what my experience tells me. Still, they seem to have picked their favourite. Does Hook have any trait that could be deemed undesirable by the girls?

His beak is crooked? Otherwise no idea. I didnfind out today he has chicken lice (baby lice so far), and need to order some diatomaceous earth. I think I said it right. I googled and it said that works good with chicken lice. Idk where he got it from. He mostly stays over here. Maybe I need to sprinkle everywhere? Idk.

Oh they run from Snape too. Unless they get cornered. But he settles down after awhile and just stays with them.

Don't feel bad. I was battling a bad cold the last few days and have been scarce myself.

I can't even keep up with how many cups of coffee I've had until my head starts hurting and reminds me, zero. It's still in the microwave because I forgot it five times!

This. 100%. My microwave will beep incessantly. "Come get your s**t you left in here dagnabbit!"

Then of course I have to reheat it. Again. Because it's cold. Repetitive cycle lol

If the diatomaceous earth doesn't work you will need some permethrin or elector. You don't want that spreading to your girls! Kill them and kill them fast!

I would start with permethrin, DE isn’t very reliable

My mid September chicks just barely started laying. In fact there has been exactly ONE egg so far and that was yesterday.
They are all Blue Copper Marans.

They all get there.....eventually.

I'm not normal either, but that certainly sounds like an average chicken argument is they could talk. Really, if chickens could talk, they would probably be arguing most of the time.

Oh no! I have never had chickens with lice so I don't know how to help, but I hope they go away.

For an active infestation my advice is to definitely go with permetherin (spelling is ??).
