From egg to chick!

She had me worried for a second. Also. I have 3 egg layers! 2 brownish pink eggs showed up today. I am assuming both my rir are laying.
Perhaps she can speak to my girls? One and only one, of the 3 started laying again 2 weeks ago. Now she’s “Nope, only kidding! Saw my shadow 6 more weeks without eggs for you!”

I hate buying eggs at the store

I'm still waiting on the brahma sisters to start laying. Unfortunately waiting is all we can do. I'm seriously thinking of waterglassing some eggs for next winter; those supermarket eggs tasted like paper

I’ve got nothing to waterglass, only 2 of my 3 girls lay… when they feel like it…
I may need to start buying from my friend’s flock again ☹️

That's unfortunate. Is your flock older? They might be slowing down a bit. Hopefully your girls can keep providing for you for a couple more seasons before having to reach out to the neighbours :hugs

About to turn 3. Big Bossy Orpington (BBO) laid every day from 5 months until 15 months then nothing but an isolated egg here and there since. I was expecting her to pass of reproductive issue based on info here, nope.
She’s also the reason I can’t get more girls because she beats the snot out of anyone new 😭

Have you tried a see no touch? Most of the birds I have are bossy AF (one beat up a loan broody hen, the broody didn't hatch out anything, but she did get her behind kicked when she escaped her broody pen. Another fought off two or three birds while she had a bleeding gash on her side. They're tough nuts), so a see no touch is the only thing that works here
