From pip to hatch... how long?

To me it seems like the first ones to pip take longer, up to 24hrs. Its been my experience that the first ones usually take about 12 hrs and then it seems to speed up. I think that when you get a few chicks running around it causes the others to want out. I have had one that I let go for 24 hrs with little progress and then when I helped it out it died. Out of about 60 that I have hatched s far this year its been the only one to die.

I think it depends on the chick. I've got 14 chicks in my bator now. Some took 12 hours, some 1 hour or less. Or maybe it's the humidity. I don't know. There are so many variables, it's hard to figure it all out!
