Hello all. I'm kinda new to chickens but with all the eggs my family eats it was only a matter of time before we picked some up. This site is a gold mine of information. I tried to post in the want to buy section about my search for chicks but it said I needed 10 posts first. If anyone has any tips, dont hesitate to throw them out. hanks.

If you're not particular about breeds, this time of year is "chick days" in Tractor Supply stores and many farm and feed stores. They often sell out fast. You'll want to get familiar with the feed stores in your area anyway, if you're not already, so I'd suggest making a few phone calls to see who has/will get chicks. In my small town area, feed stores are quite common but only one gets chicks -- and any of the others will tell you which one that is.

And welcome!

yeah i talked to TSC and the local agway and neither has sexed chicks. Knowing my luck i'd buy 10 and end up with 8 roosters. Thanks for the tip. I'm still searching the site.
