I live in Northern Indiana, near Lake Michigan. Wind chills have been in the -40’s and -20’s. The coop has been dry and is vented. What’s been really killer is it warms up a bit, gets rainy, then the temp plummets again. I feel bad because there’s no way for me to put water inside the coop as there’s no place to put it, so they have to go out in the elements to get water. I have it right off the ramp so they don’t have to go far tho.As @A_Fowl_Guy states, leave it alone. Messing with the damaged tissue will cause more harm than good. Just watch for infection.
How much ventilation do you have in your coop? Is it nice and dry?
Some frostbite is inevitable when it's really cold, -15F and below. Were you experiencing that kind of weather when this happened?
