Frostbite on Rooster's Wattles?

@ManawaGirl Awww poor little girl I'm so glad she's okay! Yeah this warmer fall switching to a freaking ice box seemingly overnight has been two-fold, so not good for the animals :/

I hope your Roo does well! We have one down with frostbite as well, but ours is a hen.

Hope your girl continues to improve. I'm worried about one of my hens that's looking a lot more miserable than all the others. She came to us thin and ragged, but feathered out well after her molt this Fall. She still seems just a tad more delicate than the others. But she eats and drinks so that's all I can wish for. I told her to hang on until tomorrow and she'll get a break! It was warmer today but still well below freezing and windy ... about 25.

I'm replying to this to stay in touch. I think my Roo has some frostbite on his comb and maybe a bit on his waddles. We, too, have had an unusually warm fall and then the arctic BLAST this weekend. (-15 this weekend.)

But his waddles are just a little gray in areas. I smeared both him and the girls with vaseline tonight and he seemed to enjoy it. His waddles were VERY warm, but I am not sure if they were swollen or not. Terrible pictures, I apologize. I think he will lose some points, but am hoping the waddles can be saved. He loves to wave them about...

Following this since 3 of my roosters got frostbite during the cold snap here. Has anyone had to deal with blistering on the comb? My cemani all of the sudden has a huge blister on his comb (I didn't even know he had frostbite bad enough for blistering since his comb looked like mild frostbite last week) and I'll be honest, it is freaking me out a little bit. I'm relatively new to chickens (this is only my 2nd year having them) and this month was the first time in years we've been -20.

Blistering is part of the Frostbite yes. Frostbite has the same affect on skin as a burn does. They treat frostbite victims in the hospital the same as burn victims. Just leave the blisters intact. They serve a purpose and they will eventually go down or pop on their own. Right now if they are closed they are still providing a barrier against infection. So just leave them at this point.
