I had lots of problems with frostbite on my chicken's combs this year. Only 5 hens were unharmed, and they had pea combs.

I want to get a large amount of cold-hardy chickens, and the only pea-combed chickens my hatchery sells are Ameraucanas and Barred Plymouth Rocks.

Which one is a better layer, in your opinion?

Thanks! :jumpy

Maybe you were thinking dominiques? They look very similar to barred rocks but they have a little rose comb, excellent layers too.:)
Those look very similar! There was a picture of a Barred Plymouth rock with a tiny comb on my hatchery's website, so I thought they had a pea comb. :D
