Frostbitten Roosters

Ok, but like, the frostbite isn't just on the tips of their combs. It has spread to pretty much cover the whole entire comb, apart from where it meets with the head. Would you still not touch it? Every once in a while it gets bloody.

Still wouldn't. I see no way spreading goop on it would help. Is the bird/birds inside?
 
Right now they are roosting, and it's pretty cold so don't want to open the barn if we don't need to. But if we do go out later, I will get some! Otherwise I'll get some tomorrow. And, @BantyChooks we will definitely be paying more attention to headgear before purchasing them in the future!
