Frozen Bottles of water

    Laugh if you like. But after the bottles are frozen do you take the top off or do you just throw the frozen bottle at as is and let the chickens lay or play on it, or open it to let them peck at the ice. Thanks. new chicken owner, and never thought about the heat !

    Welcome to BYC.
    You can do whatever you want with the frozen water bottle. Put it out for them to lay next to, or in a pan of water to keep it cool, or as a block of ice for them to work at. I take it you are in the southern hemisphere.

    Welcome. I envy your heat right now! I would add the frozen water to the huge pans I had out for them to drink from. I had a few placed around the yard.Big ones though got walked in.I don't mind that if they only had the sense not to drink from them!
